what to expect

At your first visit, you'll complete a brief health history form to help me tailor your session safely and effectively.  While it’s not required, I recommend consulting your doctor before beginning massage therapy.

During your session, you will be fully draped, and you may undress to your comfort level—your privacy and comfort are always respected. Robes are available if needed.

My approach is client-centered: this is your massage.

I encourage open communication to ensure you get the results you're looking for. Each session is customized to your individual needs.

I do not use scented candles and I work with high-quality, unscented massage creams (prioritizing paraben-free and organic options).

Services

Prenatal Massage

While many therapists offer only light, relaxation-focused massage during pregnancy, I also provide therapeutic prenatal massage designed to address specific issues and deliver real results.

If you are considered "high risk," please consult with your doctor or midwife before booking. I’ve worked safely with many high-risk clients with medical approval.

Massage during the first trimester can be done conservatively, though many women choose to wait. There is no proven link between massage and miscarriage, but if a miscarriage is already pending, massage may help the body release naturally. In most cases, massage can be continued safely through the end of pregnancy unless complications arise.

With extensive training and experience in prenatal massage, I ensure that each session is safe and appropriate for both you and your baby. In the second and third trimesters, I typically use a side-lying position supported by pillows and foam props to keep you comfortable.

My massage table also offers special positioning options to relieve symptoms like heartburn. I do not use tables with belly holes, as my research has shown they are not the safest or most supportive choice.

Bathroom breaks are absolutely fine during your session. You can choose whether or not to include belly massage, and I tailor each session to your preferences—whether that’s a full-body massage or targeted work on specific areas.

In addition to the general benefits of Swedish massage, prenatal massage may help:

  • Reduce swelling, including wrist swelling that can contribute to carpal tunnel symptoms
  • Balance hormones
  • Decrease depression and anxiety
  • Relieve joint pain and leg cramps
  • Ease sciatic nerve pain
  • Improve circulation, enhancing oxygen and nutrient delivery to both you and your baby

Postpartum Massage

After giving birth, massage can be an incredibly supportive part of your recovery.

General guidelines suggest waiting about 3 days after an uncomplicated birth and around 6 weeks after a C-section. However, this can vary—so I always recommend discussing timing with your doctor or midwife. In some cases, massage may be appropriate sooner; in others, it may be best to wait.

Postnatal massage helps relieve muscle strain from labor and delivery, supports hormonal balance, promotes physical recovery, and may reduce the risk of postpartum depression. It can also enhance lactation and offers all the benefits of Swedish massage.

Special care is taken with positioning, especially if you're nursing, have tender breasts, or are recovering from a C-section. Side-lying massage is a comfortable option, and nursing during the session is welcome and easily accommodated. You may also choose to include abdominal massage to support your body’s adjustment and help relieve subcutaneous scar tissue.

Many new moms find that regular massage helps manage the physical demands of caring for a newborn—including lifting, carrying, and the added strain of breastfeeding.

If you’d prefer not to be away from your baby, in-home sessions may be an option, or you’re welcome to bring your baby with a caregiver to your appointment.

Fertility Massage

Massage therapy can play a supportive role in preparing your body for pregnancy. I typically recommend a series of sessions to promote fertility and overall wellness.

While one massage alone isn’t likely to result in conception, regular treatment can be a valuable part of a holistic approach. Fertility challenges often require a multi-disciplinary plan. Massage works well alongside both alternative therapies—like acupuncture, herbal medicine, and hypnotherapy—and traditional treatments such as IVF or medication.

During our initial session, we’ll go over your health history in detail and determine the most appropriate techniques to support your goals. These may include stress reduction, hormonal balance, scar tissue release, improved circulation, digestive support, detoxification, and energy balancing.

I draw from a range of methods including Swedish and deep tissue massage, acupressure, craniosacral therapy, reflexology, abdominal massage, castor oil packs, aromatherapy, and scar release. All techniques are non-invasive, and I never perform internal or genital massage.

I’ll also teach you simple self-care practices to continue at home.

For those undergoing IVF, massage can help ease stress and reduce medication side effects.

Timing is key: fertility massage is best scheduled during the first half of your menstrual cycle, before ovulation.

Our shared goal is to remove barriers and create a healthy, welcoming environment for pregnancy.
